Would i need an anesthesia for a tooth decay?

What is the process for this?

Would i need an anesthesia for a tooth decay?
tooth decay is a cavity. they give you a shot in your gums.
Reply:Usually no.

If it's a complex dental job (i.e. cavities, root canals...) they may give you nitrous oxide in conjunction with a local anesthetic like Novocaine.
Reply:you would just have to have your tooth or teeth filled

the dds will use novacaine to numb the area

or

some dds use nitrous oxide..which is laughing gas
Reply:If you are having the tooth extracted you will require some anesthesia however if you are just experiencing pain from an infected tooth then you will need some antibiotic and some pain reliever. In either case you will have to see a dentist or a oral surgeon to diagnose your tooth.
