In the imported beverage RED BULL there is an ingredient called taurine. Can taurine cause any tooth decay?

To answer your question quickly it is no! Taurine cannot cause tooth decay! It would seem that Taurine is a non-essential amino acid and is found in high concentrations in the white blood cells, skeletal muscles, central nervous system as well as the heart muscles. In adults, but not children, this nutrient can be manufactured from methionine in the body and from cysteine in the liver, but vitamin B6 must be present. It is a key ingredient of bile, which in turn is needed for fat digestion, absorption of fat-soluble vitamins as well as the control of cholesterol serum levels in the body. (It is incorporated in the bile acid chenodeoxychloic acid, which emulsify the dietary fats) This nutrient is also used in the proper use of potassium, calcium as well as sodium in the body, and for maintaining cell membrane integrity. It is thought to be helpful with anxiety, hyperactivity, poor brain function and epilepsy as well as hydrating the brain. Taurine, together with zinc is also required for proper eye health and vision.

I hope this helped!!!

Even sugar free anything contains sugars to cause decay. Red bull is full of sugar and so are sodas....So yes...Brush, floss and see your dentist every 6 months. Sodas cause tooth decay, stomach problems, and fragile bones because the phosphorous acid depletes the body of calcium. Taurine is naturally found in our bodies because it is an amino acid found in the nervous system and muscles. Check the sites below for further information.

If you need more energy try a longer nights sleep and don't consume caffeine, smoke or drink alcohol before 4 hours before bedtime.
Reply:Taurine is not directly linked to tooth decay but the drink is very bad for you. I love it but had to stop drinking it. Even the sugar free one will rot your teeth.
