How to relieve horrible tooth pain (probably caused by decay)?

I'm gonna see my dentist tomorrow, but I can hardly bear the pain.

Do you know any good pain-killers? Which one has the longest effect? The one I'm taking now is an over-the-counter one which only takes away the pain for less than 2 hours, and my experience is that the more I take the less effect it has.

Any natural or home remedies? I heard that clove oil only works for pain after tooth extraction (e.g. of wisdom teeth).

Your dentist is a jerk for not prescribing something and calling it in to your pharmacy to at least get you through the night. But since he didn't... Rinse your mouth out with apple cider vinegar several times a day. This will kill any bacteria in your mouth in the vicinity of that tooth and nearby teeth. Then mix raw honey with apple cider vinegar and - about a tablespoon of each - and take that as a medicine. It is very good for any kind of infections and will help lower your blood pressure and bad cholesterol, too.

As for the toothache, stick with what works - aspirin or tylenol or ibuprofen - follow the directions on the bottle. Try to get to bed early. Sleeping is the best way to avoid pain issues.
Reply:Take tylenol or ibprofen every four to six hours following the directions on the back. Your dentist will prescribe you some good stuff.
Reply:go to the dentist he/she will be able to take care of it.
Reply:THere are prescription toothpastes you can get. Ask your dentist when you see them tomorrow.
Reply:Darvon.....good grief too bad you couldnt go today...i did...mouth is frozen still
Reply:Rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide
Reply:Go to the baby isle at Walgreens or your local store and Get NUM-Ge. It works great!

I know it's for babies, but it works. So RUUUUUUN

From a Pharm Tec.
Reply:I've been in the same boat as you, and warm salt water rinses helped. It won't eliminate the pain but it will help take the edge off a little.

Just take a couple of teaspoons of salt and mix it in a glass with warm water from the tap, and then put some in your mouth and kind of swirl it gently around the sore tooth. Don't swish vigorously, as that could make the pain worse. After about 30 seconds, spit out the salt water. You might need to do this about once per hour but it should help a little bit...I'm not promising miracles, but it should make the pain a bit more bearable.

Good luck!
Reply:ibuprofen ok
Reply:Just go into your dentist he or she will give you something for the pain .
