Can anyone name 2 snacks that are unlikely to cause tooth decay ?

Throw in some ideas and we can compare our thoughts on this ?

Can anyone name 2 snacks that are unlikely to cause tooth decay ?
Cheese, hummus, yogurt dips, cold/cured meat, fish, bread sticks, crackers, plain/savoury rice cakes, cucumber, celery, green peppers, salad leaves, soups - depends what you consider to be a snack - (my snacks are quite large!).

It would include anything that isn't sweet or sweetened including fruit (fruit is also full of sugar, even though it's natural), or doesn't have hidden sugars added (e.g. maltodextrin).
Reply:Celery sticks

Carrots x

Basically anything that isn't loaded with sugar so most savoury snacks.
Reply:Cheese and crackers

Rice cakes
Reply:choose vegetables as a snack carrots and celery or watermelon and cantelope anything inthe veggie and fruit group
Reply:Plain popcorn (preferably home-popped, it's easy and cheap)

Celery and carrot sticks
Reply:if you don't brush your teeth regularly, you will get tooth decay. it is caused by food being stuck between the teeth and rotting. you can eat whatever you want, just brush your teeth.
Reply:anything will cause tooth decay if the teeth are not cleaned regular. the healthier options are obvious though, anything with a low sugar content. my partner is a dental nurse and is ceased to ae amazed at the amount of people that just dont care for their teeth. it looks disgusting to see dirty teeth and experience other peoles bad oral hygiene.
Reply:toothpast

dust
Reply:peanuts and cheese
Reply:fruits and salads.plus you should always remember that route cause for tooth decay is inadequate oral hygiene. In my opinion ,chocolate can be a snack with no tooth decay .. if you have water after having chocolate and rinse ur mouth well .
Reply:Here's a quick and easy guideline. If it has sugar in it (natural or artificial) and is sticky then stay away from it. Examples of sticky bad snacks: raisins, fruit roll-ups, gummy worms, carmel, taffy, any kind of chewy/sticky candy. It's worse because it get's caught in the crevices of your teeth and sits there for a long time. Recent studies have shown raisins to be better than previously thought, but I'm not too sure it's a safe snack yet.

Here's a great hint: Chew gum with Xylitol (pronounced Zy-lo-tall) as it's first ingredient (like Ice Breakers). Bacteria in your mouth can't metabolize the sweetner Xylitol and it actually prevents cavities. It's recommened that you chew 4-5 pieces a day to prevent cavities. Try it!
Reply:Mature Cheddar cheese and peanuts both apparently contain natural chemicals that are supposed to help protect the teeth from decay to some degree.

And sugar free chewing gum containing xylitol can help protect the teeth too.
Reply:dental_hygienist gave you the best answer because she told you what to stay away from. That's a much smaller list. :o)
