Why do teeth appear black when they decay?

why will tooth decay?what is the reason behind tooth paining?

Why do teeth appear black when they decay?
1.) Teeth appear black when they decay because of an oxidation by air.

2.) Teeth decay because the bacteria that are always in every mouth get enough food. Which is sugar and carbohydrates(yes, even bread can cause decay).

Then they urinate their excrements which contain acids onto your teeth. These acids dissolve your enamel and cause pain as soon as they come near the nerve.

3.) That´s the reason why you have toothache and should brush your teeth properly.
Reply:because they are rotting... things turn black when they rot... leave a banana sitting on the counter for 6 weeks and see what color it is...
Reply:that is what is under the enamel
Reply:Teeth turn black when they decay, because they are dead. Meaning that no circulation is coming into the tooth to keep it alive, similar to how a rose that dies, turns dry and almost black without water. The pain comes from the nerve being irritated from swelling or infection, neither are a good thing.
Reply:Tetracycline makes your teeth turn brown, gray, or black and old fillings also turn this color. Fluoride makes your teeth white, yellow, brown, gray, or black. Wine will make your teeth turn yellow. Tobacco will make your teeth turn yellow -brown or black. Coffee, tea, and coke will make your teeth turn brown to black and finally poor oral hygiene will make your teeth turn yellow to brown.

Some teeth contain heavy internal stains that are either hereditary or caused by certain medications that were given during tooth development. The most common stains of this kind are the ones caused by Tetracycline.
