Sharp pain in my tooth?

i had my wisdom teeth out 6 months ago. i cannot bite down onto one of my back teeth. i have been to many dentists and there is no nerve damage, tooth decay, or hot/cold senstivity. i only get a shap pain when i bite down on to this one tooth -- all my other teeth are fine. if anyone has any ideas would be much appreciated. thanks

Sharp pain in my tooth?
Has any dentist mentioned that it could be a crack in one of your teeth? Teeth can appear to be sound on xray but what you are feeling seems very symptomatic of a crack in one of your teeth. This is very hard to pick up on xray but if they shine a blue light (curing light) on your teeth it sometimes shows up the very evident problem. Ask your dentist to check the tooth with a tooth sleuth which is a device you bite down on to check for cracks in teeth. Cracks are not necessarily sensitive to hot or cold. The solution unfortunately is not a cheap one...crowning or capping the tooth is usually the only way to solve it. This works by holding the tooth together. When you bite down on a cracked tooth it separates slightly causing much pain but if you crown the tooth it hold it together, therefore preventing the cause of the pain. Crowning teeth can cost between $1500 - $2000 per tooth. Any other solution including removal of the tooth will eventually cost you more. Sorry to be the bearer of possibly very bad news but it is better to be prepared. Go and see your dentist and ask them to check for substantial cracks on your back tooth.
