I'm in my early 20's. MY front tooth is starting to decay. What causes tooth decays and how do I solve this?

I would say your diet is your biggest factor regarding tooth decay...genetics is also involved.

You need to get to a dentist and have this tooth "drilled" and filled....

They use a new "filling" application these days...and it looks just like the color of your tooth...IN fact you don't want any

metal amalgams in your mouth because they are finding it is damaging to the brain.

I have had all the metal fillings in my mouth removed and I go in tomarrow for my fitting for my new partials to restore my smile. Find a good dentist....mine is terrific..

The sooner you get to the dentist the lower the dollar cost to fix your tooth... For one tooth,,,your looking at 85 to $100.00.

Personally I think it's well worth it...

Be sure to ask the dentist the latest on best care and diet health for your teeth...

Do you breath through your nose or you mouth? Could be that your mouth is too dry from mouth breathing. Do you brush regularly? When you brush do you actually hit that tooth, or do you overlook it? Might just need to pay closer attn while brushing.
Reply:I hope the problem is not drugs, because many of them cause tooth decay.

Let's say it's not drugs. Then it is likely sugar. Sugar does it for sure. Also genetics plays a part. Some people are blessed with tougher enamel than others.

Flossing is so important to get the bread and other grains and food out from between the teeth.

There are special tooth pastes you can get from the dentist that help reduce the bacteria build up that causes decay.
Reply:Do you have a high sugar diet? In particular do you drink lots of soda because Coke or Pepsi for example are the number one cause of tooth decay.

Brushing the gums also helps to keep your roots strong, and can lesson decay. Brush gently though, or you can cause irritation.
Reply:WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW A DENTIST?

FRONT TEETH ARE DECAY RESISTANT MUCH MORE THAN REAR MOLARS. THE DECAY IS PROBABLY BETWEEN YOUR TEETH INSTEAD OF THE LARGE FRONT SURFACE. FLOSSING WILL PREVENT THIS DECAY FROM FORMING.
Reply:Tooth decay is actually multi-factorial when it comes to cause. The general predisposing factors would be:(referring to the host)-race,diet,heredity,nutrition,physi... condition of the patient(age incidence,et.al),endocrine disturbances.Local predisposing factors would be referring to the tooth-structural quality of tooth, developmental defects, malposition of teeth, attrition, composition of saliva, poor oral hygiene, physical nature of food.Exciting factors that would refer to the bacterias involved in having tooth decay. In general,it's a multifactorial triad:susceptible host, tooth and bacteria.

Watch on what you eat, your oral hygiene. It's very important. For your 2 front tooth,go to the dentist and have it filled.Don't let it go bigger, you wouldn't like the consequences,If it's smaller now(or smaller the way you see it),have it filled now,for it not to worsen. Also, the dentist can check if you have any other cavities.Coz there's very big possibility,if you have it in the front, you could have cavities on the back.
