No. The sugar in regular soft drinks is what causes tooth decay. Artificial sweeteners do not have the same effect.

It is definitely possible to get tooth decay with diet soda pop because they have high levels of citric, phosphoric and/or malic acid which demineralizes the tooth enamel and opens the "door" wide open for bacteria to attack and cause decay. The major culprits are citrus flavored diet sodas e.g Mountain dew.
