Can i take amoxicillin for a tooth decay infection?

I wouldn't take an antibiotic for decay. Now if you have an infected tooth and need a root canal then usually dentist prescribe penicillin if the tooth is bad enough, however if you can't take penicillin or you already have amoxicillin that's up to the dentist.

Can i take amoxicillin for a tooth decay infection?
I think this is just an anti biotic, so should be ok as long as your doc has prescribed it.
Reply:You take what your dentist has prescribed for you and nothing else.

If you haven't been to the dentist, then you don't know WHAT you have. And no, you cannot take a left over medication from some other infection you had. (Besides, you are supposed to finish ALL antibiotics when they are prescribed. You shouldn't have any left overs.)

Call your dentist right away.
Reply:no its illegal
Reply:I would call your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist. Although if you aren't allergic to penicillins, taking it would not hurt. But, it might not be the right antibiotic to treat the infection. There are different antibiotics to treat different bacteria. I highly recommend calling you dentist and schedule an appointment to get a prescription for the right antibiotic.
Reply:Amoxicillin is good only for minor wounds or inflammation but if we speak of infection, you need to apply a higher but safe concentration of medication. I'll refer you to http://www.oramd.com/ and see what great help it can offer you. Grab the opportunity to keep dental problems away from your life!
