Why do people eat sugary foods when it causes tooth decay so rapidly?

Many people are ignorant to this too!

Some think "as long as you brush your teeth afterward", or advocate backward practices like, "eat your real food first, THEN you can have desert!".

I mean, come on now! At least if they eat their desert first, the real food will help get the sweets off their teeth as they chew and it clings to it!

And when I had a bad took in back of my mouth (overcrowded, my wisdom teeth came in as well), before I had it pulled, I tested.... Zero bar candy, INSTANTLY I felt pain in that tooth, but I could brush, then eat regular sandwiches, meats, etc, no pain even hours later.

This led me to believe sugary foods increase rate of decay at least hundreds of times faster than normal foods.

Have noticed the biggest difference since taking softdrinks from my diet, candy, icecream, cakes, etc.

Once in a while, I give in to cravings, but it is nowhere near as bad now.

Why are people so blind, is it because they believe childhood myths like this?

Why do people eat sugary foods when it causes tooth decay so rapidly?
Humans crave fatty and sugary foods because it was once part of survival. We would load up on them and it would help us out during hard times. Due to those cravings and companies fulfilling the demands of the consumer there is an abundance of these products which makes them easier to access.

I happen to have a big sweet tooth, I'm not going to lie about it but I haven't had a cavity in years because I brush my teeth properly.

Though, you seemed to categorize bread into "normal" foods but I think bread is the worst because huge chunks of it can stick to your teeth allowing the sugar to stay there for awhile, unless of course you brush your teeth after meals.
Reply:why do we drink alcohol, smoke, take drugs, drive too fast, skydive, race cars, box, jump cars with a motorcycle, etc. etc. etc.?

because we like it.

sugar is like a drug. your brain thinks you need it, so you crave it. the more sugar you eat, the insulin you produce. when you crash as the sugar wears off, the insulin is too high, so to balance it, you take more sugar. and the cycle starts again.

besides, if you avoided everything that was bad or you, you would starve.
Reply:This is a stupid quesrion, have you ever eaten anything containig sugar? then you know the answer.

Do you expect because it tastes like poo?

Sheesh, more a lecture than a question anyway, sorry you need a life or a website where you can blog this kind of nonsense.

Ps scientisit have proven sugar rushes are a psychological thing, there is no such thing as a physical sugar rush, we just believe it because so many people say overloading on sugar will give you it.

and i'd be more concerned with the crap they put in water than naturally occuring sugar, fluoride in water causes cavities not prevents it, bit different having it coating your teeth than sitting in your gut.

so while your slamming sugar lets talk abou all the bad crap they sell legally.............

nah i don't have that long
Reply:Generally people eat the sugary sweet foods, and drink the sugary drinks, because they taste so good. It's something that is quick and easy to get and eat, or get and drink. No cooking/baking involved on their part -- if purchased already made, at the store.

Take care.
Reply:I think if you take good care of your teeth early on in your life then you may be less likely to get cavities. It's only normal for "people" to eat all types of food.
