Do Fluoride-related products and dentist treaments reverse tooth decay?

Will fluoride products/dentist treatments remineralize some of my lost enamel do to decay?

Do Fluoride-related products and dentist treaments reverse tooth decay?
Nope, they can only prevent future problems!
Reply:Nothing can fix tooth decay. Fluoride can only help prevent it.
Reply:Yes, if it is not too far gone already.
Reply:nope, those things prevent decay, but once it has set in there is only one way to get rid of it, drilling and filling.
Reply:No. Fluoride will only make your teeth less subject to decay. They will not reverse decay that has already occurred.

Good luck!!
Reply:No. Impossible. Dentist treatment just covers up the tooth decay.
Reply:Flouride does many things, it prevents tooth decay, can actually help with pain in the gums!! It enhance the tooth remineralization. It can make stronger bones. So to answer your question, yes, a little. Too much flouride can cause white spots in your teeth if you are at a young age. Flouride comes naturally in some water sources, is added in others. It does have many benefits.

My mother gave me flouride as a child, we were on well water. It contained no flouride. I am in my forties. I had my first cavity at age 30, pregnant. I cried. What a baby!
Reply:tooth decay cannot be reversed. some say that it can be reversed, but it isnt really reversed, it is just stopped. the decay cannot be rebuilt. its like trying to grow an arm after one has be lost. once it is gone, it is gone. but there are ways to prevent it from advancing. that is where the flouride comes in. flouride is a wonderful halting treatment, it helps to stop the advancement of decay, and that will do wonders to help how your teeth feel and look. you can talk to a dentist about getting the enamel strengthened prosthetically, to keep your dentition in good shape.
Reply:Any toothpaste/treatment with glycerine will prevent remineralization according to my reading. (Sorry, I don't recall the source.) Fluoride is a lethal chemical added to toothpaste quite by an act of barely-researched hype several decades ago. It is not necessary whatsoever for healthy teeth and gums and can cause many health problems. Check out www.ecomall.com/greenshopping/fluoride.h...

and switch to a natural toothpaste from a health food store/section.
Reply:Nothing reduces tooth decay. Flouride is whitening, and helps prevent cavities, but if you already have cavities nothing will help, except for your dentist filling them or pulling them.
Reply:nope they can fight and prevent but not restore - sorry
Reply:Fluoride does not only prevent cavities but it DOES reverse the cavity as long as the cavity is in the enamel layer. The fluoride remineralizes the cavity; BUT once the cavity is in the second layer (dentin) a dental visit is required. Fluoride is only harmful if you eat the crap!!! ACT Fl mouthrinse is great OTC. Another thing if you don't like tap water is Walmart sells a bottle water called nursery water which adds just enough fluoride for developing teeth. Remember prevention is A LOT cheaper than fixing. The more you do at home the less dentist's do!!!
