Stomach acids will damage your teeth! Bulimics, especially, will suffer from tooth decay. I, personally, am not sure why this is- if the enamel on the tooth is this fragile, or stomach acid this harsh- but it is.
Thanx who answered tooth decay but think about it your bodily acids decompose your body y not your teeth?
The acids are in your stomach not your mouth, I think you're thinking of enzymes.
Reply:Your bodily acids don't decompose your body~ What decomposes your body is, drum roll, decomposers, such as maggots and bacteria. the waste of such micro-organisms is what creates a foul smell. for example, at a water treatment plant, you can smell CO4 (Methane) which is produced in mass by the bacterium population. This is their waste. Human bodily acids these days are removed during the process of embalming. Tooth Enamel is Basic, as "stomach acid" is of course acidic. stomach acid being further off from neutral disposition, can sometimes damage your teeth. Enzymes have nothing to do with tooth decay, as they are in your saliva, acting as Chemical reaction speed up. Completely harmless. ;)
Reply:Ah, your teeth are part of your body. Think about it this way, enamel on the teeth are the hardest substance in the human body, even harder then bone. When you don't remove the food+bacteria it will = acid. This in turn causes tooth decay. If this is not a powerful motivator to brush and floss everyday, I don't know what is.
