Artificial sweeteners and tooth decay?

Does aspertame rot ur teeth like regular sugar does? the same, not as much?

And, how do you avoid having a root canal and why do you get them/what causes you to need one?

Artificial sweeteners and tooth decay?
No, artificial sweetners can't be broken down by the bacteria in the mouth.

Sometimes you can't avoid having a root canal. If you need it, then you need it.

You'll need a root canal treatment if a cavity comes really close to your nerve/pulpal chamber of the tooth. This is the most common, but there are others.

If you're extremely sensitive and in pain after you get a crown/cap done on your teeth.

If you have a gum problem. A very serious gum problem such that there's a tunnel from your mouth down to the apex of your tooth. The bacteria enters your tooth from the bottom up and infects the pulp.

These are off the top of my head. There are still other reasons though.
